If you are not familiar with the Whole30 diet plan, it isn’t even really a diet at all. It is a type of elimination diet that you do for a certain period of time (30 days) to see if avoiding certain foods help you feel better and maybe you will even lose a little weight. It isn’t a get skinny quick thing and it isn’t even really a diet. The creators simply took the foods that people most often have problems with (dairy, gluten, sugar, alcohol and a few others)
I am on it and finding it is helping my headaches BIG TIME. I did have a bit of headaches the first week but since the first week, I have actually been feeling really great. I am now nearing the end of my 3rd week and my digestion has improved, I feel like I have lost a little weight (one of the “rules of Whole30 is no weighing yourself until the end!) and my headaches are GONE GONE. Like GONE. I used to get a mild headache almost every afternoon and during allergy times, these were much worse, to the point of bringing tears to my eyes for no reason and sometimes just the pain would do that but a lot of the time, my eyes would just run from the headache — weird, but true. And sometimes I was waking up coughing or with a headache. I really haven’t woken up much the last couple of weeks other than waking up thirsty which is probably just dehydration or that I was doing some mouth breathing — lol.
So if you haven’t heard of it, my suggestion is to read one of their books. Personally, I prefer “It starts with Food” as it tells all the science and the why of their rules. I personally don’t really like a lot of the groups on social media — they are ok, but there is a TON of BS and wrong info on them – so if you have read the books, they are great for support and recipes but if you haven’t, they will be hella confusing because they tell you a lot of wrong info so try reading one of the books first if you are interested.
The plan is not really a diet so if you are just looking to lose weight, it might not be a good fit for you (although most people lose weight and some lose a LOT) but if you have some little chronic BS thing that isn’t really a serious medical problem but more of an irritation (like my headaches or my stuffy nose), the elimination diet concept of the plan might work great for you. It also teaches you how to reintroduce the foods at the end of the 30 days to see which one of the possible triggers is the one – and that step is important because it may be only one thing (like dairy or sugar or gluten or artificial sweeteners) that bothers you so have a read and if you like it, give it a try 🙂
