Firestick – Why you probably need one!!

So I actually didn’t think I needed a firestick. I have lots of movies on demand and I have an Echo so I have all the Alexa that I thought I needed but it was actually my 80 year old Dad who told me why I needed a firestick.

Now, don’t get me wrong. My Dad is 80 but he is also a retired engineer and software inventor. So, he isn’t an idiot. He was in the computer business LONG before anyone knew there was a computer business – like think EARLY 1970s!! I can remember being little kids and going to work with him on the weekend and it was a super throwback with giant spinning tapes and punch cards — totally crazy right!!

So when he said I need an Amazon Firestick, I was like OK tell me why. I didn’t even get why he had them. My Mom loved her Echo who she actually called Echo instead of Alexa. And since my Mom had very advanced ovarian cancer, he used the Echo to monitor her and so she could call for help or find out the weather or time or so many other things that all Alexa fans know. My Mom has since passed away so him worrying about my TV watching was odd.

Here is the reasoning:
1- Alexa now become a FINDER — Alexa find Three Days of the Condor – one of my Dad’s faves.
2- You get ORGANIZED – are you paying for subscriptions that you are not using. Getting a firestick will SHOW YOU. I got rid of Netflix and later Hulu. And no offense to either of them as I have rotated Netflix back in but it allows you to rotate your subscriptions and probably save a little money. At least as much as the firestick costs.
3 – It puts Amazon Music on your TV. No biggie for some people but since I work from home, there are times I want TV when I am working and times when I want music and times when I want NOTHING so it is super great to have all of them on one stick.

So for me — BEING ORGANIZED was a huge help. But it was also an improvement on my well being. I was watching WAY TOO MUCH NEWS. Why? Because it is easy to find even if it is a pain to watch. News right now is a bit toxic so now with my handy little firestick, I can find something FAST AND EASY. Be sure to check back sometime soon as I will have a list of my top show to watch. I fell in love with my kindle the first second I had one and I read way more on it in a year than I did in years with books. And my firestick is doing the same for my TV watch. I actually gifted my Echo to my hubs because I now was only using it for the timer and trivia and I can do both of those on my firestick so if you are not sure if you want to deal with Alexa all the time, it could be a softer more controlled way to try it out.
