The overuse of the word HERO

Ok, so I personally have a definition of hero and I am hard pressed to think of a single celebrity EVER who has earned that title.  Don’t get me wrong and don’t get defensive here but sit back and think about when you were a little kid and what a hero was.    Guys like Superman and Captain America come to mind right?   So someone who can do and does EXTRAORDINARY things.    So I personally don’t give this title to very many people.   Go read a couple of Medal on Honor dedications and you will see what I mean.  Someone who jumps on a grenade with no worry of his own mortality to save his platoon is a SELFLESS HONORABLE person.  That is a hero.  It is EXACTLY what you thought a hero was when you were little.   Right now there is a WWE commercial calling a bunch of wrestlers heroes — sorry but NO.   You are popular, you are athletes, you are celebrities and people like you.  But YOU ARE NOT HEROES.

Go watch Hacksaw Ridge, based on a true story and based on a Medal of Honor dedication and you will GET IT.   SELFLESS, AMAZING.   That is what true heroes are.   My only exception to this is when people use it for cancer patients because Cancer is so raw and brutal I think Cancer patients deserve all we can give them but I personally only use it for people who are doing things for other people but I certainly don’t think it applies to any celebrity so how about we get out of the whole hero designation for anyone and everyone, you are diluting the power of this title when you use for everyone.
