First, I completely respect the President and President Trump is the first one in a long time to cast light on how jacked up the VA system is. The VA is like a horrible tasting stew. You can either toss it out or keep adding fixes to it to try to make it better. So far, it IS NOT BETTER. It is still a MESS. I don’t think you need doctors to run it, the problems are as much to do with bad adminstration than anything. The waits are too long, the lines are too long, vets wait too long for EVERYTHING from their disability benefit to seeing a doctor to having someone sign off on their vet driver license. Yes, even to get a driver’s license with the Vet designation involves going to the VA and doing a dance with them. It is one thing that takes not so long as long as you live near a VA center but what if you don’t. Not sure why a certified copy of the DD214 which is the GOLD STANDARD of forms for vets — they all have it – is not just taken by the DMV to do that.
So I have been hearing a lot about how it is getting fixed and IT IS NOT FIXED. Vets deserve everything we can give them and we should keep the promises that have been made to them by at least having a decent VA that they can go to — and have caring people there when you get there would be very refreshing too since I have had lots of interactions with the VA and have yet to have someone who is anywhere near kind or interested.
